The film is an in depth look at the commercial pet food industry, it's lack of regulation, and how is has evolved over the years, as it is now owned mostly by 4 conglomerates. We also look into what the actual diet requirements are for Dogs and cats, VS what pet food companies claims, and actually sell. It is something that few of us have taken the time to think about, and it is eye opening when you realize how long they have operated without ever being challenged.

These companies have created their own rules and regulations
There is NO regulatory oversight/authority to make these companies follow their own made-up regulations.
AAFCO has no regulatory authority
Protein can be ANY protein, like wheat gluten.
FDA allows contamination by: Pesticides, Industrial chemicals, natural toxicants, microbiological contamination and CONTAMINATION BY FILTH.
Diversion requests will be handled on an ad hoc basis. The Center will consider the requests for diversion of food considered adulterated for human use in all situations where the diverted food will be acceptable for its intended animal food use. Such situations may include:
Pesticide contamination in excess of the permitted tolerance or action level.
Pesticide contamination where the pesticide involved is unapproved for use on a food or feed commodity.
Contamination by industrial chemicals.
Contamination by natural toxicants.
Contamination by filth.
Microbiological contamination.
Over tolerance or unpermitted drug residues.
There is no Pre-Market approval for products
There are no Inspections of the facilities:"30% may be inspected once or twice over a 3 1/2 yr period"
No Government authority to recall a product
No mandatory standards
Kibble is the most re-called "food" on the market
Kibble is dry and puts your dog in a perpetual state of dehydration. Dry kibble fed dogs drink 10x more water than raw fed dogs and are more prone to heat stroke.
2007-2013 - for 6 years Dehydrated Chicken Jerky treats killed dogs across the US. - Sold as SEVERAL different brands, they were ALL sourced from the same supplier...despite floods of complaints & deaths, the brands denied anything was wrong with their products and stated the FDA found no contaminants.
Class action Lawsuits are 'insignificant' to the Billions of dollars in profits made, bottom line is, dead pets are not worth changes in the industry, they're making too much money to change. Chemical preservatives in kibbles CAUSE cancer. There are enough preservative chemicals in kibble foods to keep them "fresh" for 25 years....let that sink in.
The foods you may think are 'healthy' are all the same. Cooked at very high temps, slathered in preservatives. I feed raw because I see a significant difference in the health of my dogs, the health of my kennel and the health of the puppies I produce. Vicky Glisson Cape Fear Cane Corso
