Cooked or Raw ~ What’s The Difference?

Updated: Feb 18, 2023

Most people are very confused due

to conflicting advise about raw.

Why IS food cooked for dogs?

  • Food is cooked to kill germs, toxins the causes of food borne illnesses.

  • Cooking the dog food kills parasites.

  • Food is cooked so it can be stored and transported.

  • Raw food “self-destructs” or goes bad, due to the active enzymes in the food.

  • Cooking stops that process by destroying the enzymes.

  • Food is cooked to make it more nutritious and digestible.

In general, no, cooking food does NOT make it more nutritious or digestible.

Destructive Effects of Cooking

  • Cooking Destroys Vitamins

  • Heat destroys many vitamins. Particularly the B and C.

  • Cooking Destroys Enzymes

  • Everything living has enzymes. Enzymes are proteins which control

  • Chemical reactions in the body, DESTROYED by heat.

  • Enzymes in raw food are very important nutrients; they aid in the digestion of food and they slow the aging process.

  • The destruction of enzymes in food forces the pancreas to work harder. It has to produce the digestive enzymes needed. The result is Pancreatitis,

  • Pancreatic Insufficiency and sugar Diabetes. This is exasperated in dried kibble dog foods.

Cooking Destroys Enzymes

  • Enzymes are absorbed whole into the bloodstream. Once in the body, they help slow and reverse aging effects like wrinkled skin, arteries become hard and brittle, molecules in genes become damaged, resulting in cancers and birth defects.

  • By feeding your dog cooked food or kibble you are contributing to your dog’s ageing process and in the case of stud dogs and bitches, you are contributing to reproductive problems

Cooking Destroys other Naturally Occurring Factors

  • Anti-oxidants are present in raw foods, are destroyed by cooking. Cooking food advances the ageing process and is part of all degenerative diseases including Cancer, kidney disease, heart disease, arthritis, etc...

  • Protein value and availability is destroyed in cooking. Proteins are de-natured and become indigestible.

  • Cooking causes a LOSS of Amino Acids - Lysine and methionine results in growth problems, bone problems, skin problems, pregnancy problems, milk productions, general poor health and reduced resistance to disease.

Cooking Produces “Foreign” foods

  • The fats, proteins and carbohydrates are de-natured in cooking. The more they are cooked the greater the change and the more indigestible the food becomes and the body regards these molecules as foreign toxins.

  • Foreign toxins result in allergic reactions, auto-immune diseases, arthritis. Many of these denatured chemicals are carcinogenic and cancer forming.

  • Commercial dog foods, dry kibble, not only lack protective nutrients(vitamins, enzymes, anti-oxidants) are also full of dangerous chemicals promoting diseases and degeneration.

Cooked Food Deprives Your Dog

  • Your dog is designed to rip, tear, & crush their food. This important aspect of food creates exercise for your dog that they will never experience on dry dog food.

  • The dogs teeth never get cleaned with dry dog food. Infection and decaying teeth cause more health problems from the toxins and bacteria sent throughout it’s body.

  • Your dog is essentially deprived of the many primal instincts and activities of what being a dog is all about.

  • Loss of Instinct to choose: Dogs eating a raw diet are able to use instinct to make suitable choices if presented with a sufficient wide variety of foods. Modern dry kibble removes this natural instinct because of it’s addictive effects.

Unbalanced Diet

  • Dry kibble foods are cooked and denatured beyond recognition of anything resembling meat. They are then extruded under pressure and shaped into bite size peices. A concoction of preservatives, lab created vitamins and flavor is sprayed onto the kibble so your dog will eat it.

  • This is a recipe for disaster for your dogs health and is inn no way a “balanced” diet. “Complete and balanced” means that a food meets minimal theoretical health requirements for the average dog.

  • Imagine eating corn, rancid fat and chicken wings (without meat) every meal of your life, with the same mix of cheap vitamins and minerals added…

  • Nutritionally-deprived animals have sick guts. In fact, intestinal upset when switching foods is a sign your dog needs more variety. Once good nutrition has healed a dog’s digestive system, the dog can eat different foods every meal — just as people do.

  • Kibble is linked to kidney and bladder problems in cats, and to bloat, a deadly problem especially for large, broad-chested dogs

  • Most kibble is loaded with corn, a cheap filler. Unfortunately, the corn isn’t the luscious kind you and I eat.

What About Contamination and Germs?

  • Many people are worried by the “germs” in raw food. The believe those germs will make them and their dog sick.

  • Dogs are designed by nature to handle all of those germs. They even like to bury raw bones and let it ferment a few days before eating it...meat and all.

  • Your dog is a scavenger and thrives on microbes in their food. Wild dogs eat the gut contents of their prey, including the feces of other animals. These are all sources of microbes & probiotics the dog needs in his gut.

  • If you’ve witnessed your dog or another dog eating feces, it’s a sign they need pro-bitocs and microbes in their diet.

  • Use common sense and take the same precautions you normally take when handling raw foods for your own consumption.

The Bottom Line...

  • When kibble is cooked, it retains enough nutrients to keep your dog alive with no obvious immediate problems. It does not allow your dog to have a long, healthy, disease free life. Kibble foods are responsible for the ill health of dogs including Cancer, kidney disease, heart disease, arthritis, pancratic diseases, etc.

  • Dogs fed on kibble live shorter, less healthy, more miserable loves than dogs fed raw.

  • Trials show dogs fed raw foods are much healthier than dogs fed kibble foods. Modern dogs fed on processed food have weaker immune systems, they age quicker and they develop disease.

  • It is important to feed your dog on fresh RAW food.

There are 100’s of choices of dog foods available, from cheap to expensive.

I don't care WHAT they SAY on the package....

THE BOTTOM LINE IS

They are ALL the SAME cooked, dead, unhealthy kibble
